While the morning weather seemed dire, the first event in the Yokohama Tire/Radial Tire Championship presented by Autocrossers, Inc. went on without much of a hitch. The rain stopped, the course eventually dried, and 100 competitors had a great time on the Lee Piccione/Sam Strano course.
Class Results and PAX results are posted here, and the Radial Tire Consistency winner will be posted soon.
The 2008 Season Subscription is open again, at a prorated $140 for the final four events. Please remember that your SCCA membership needs to be current for each event, and if you let it lapse, you will be responsible for paying an addition $10 per event where the membership is not current.
Yokohama Tire Corporation along with Radial Tire Company have partnered up to sponsor Autocrossers, Incorporated’s 2008 Championship Autocross Series. As a result, the “2008 Yokohama Tire/Radial Tire Championship Autocross Series, presented by Autocrossers, Inc”, promises to be the best and biggest yet.
Yokohama and Radial have put together a generous sponsorship package which includes tires, hats, jackets and more. In addition, representatives from Yokohama will put on tire tech sessions at select events where competitors new to the sport can learn tips to help them get the most out of their tires.
Yokohama, which was one of the first manufacturers to bring “R-compound” tires to the Solo community, and Radial Tire Company, which has supported the local motorsport competitors for many years, will award up to six Yokohama Advan tires to competitors for the 2008 season. Tire awards include:
- 2 tires which will be raffled at the year-end Solo awards ceremony
- 2 tires to the most consistent driver in four out of five Autocrossers, Inc., events, regardless of the competitor’s tire brand; details on the Radial Tire Consistency Cup forthcoming.
- 2 tires to the fastest driver on Yokohama tires throughout the year (must run Yokohama tires and have a minimum of three stickers on their car)
Prizes will be awarded via vouchers to Radial Tire, and winners can claim any DOT-legal Advan tires including R-compounds in sizes 19 inches or smaller (does not include slicks).
Autocrossers, Inc., will be holding five Solo events at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. The first event is May 10. Competitors can sign up for a season subscription via DLBracing.com.

Results for Autcrossers, Inc. 2007 Series Event #4 are here. Thanks to everyone who made this event a success and to all the competitors for coming out. Hope to see you all on November 4th.
Sam Strano won his third Pro Solo Championship Sept. 22 at the SCCA Pro Solo Finale in Topeka, KS. Sam won F-Stock by more than eight tenths of a second at the Finale to claim the year-end championship. He won Pro Solo championships in E-Street Prepared last year and F-Stock in 2002.
Autocrossers, Inc., trophy winners at the Finale included:
Brian Burdette, 2nd place in ESP
“Big” Mike Snyder, 3rd in FS (he beat BOTH the Kozlaks??!!)
Lee Piccione, 3rd in B-Stock
Karen Kraus, 4th in L1
Other A.I. finishers included: Eric Kriemelmeyer, 4th in G-Stock; Phil Knowles, 5th in ESP; Kenny Sorensen and Andrew Baker, 5th and 6th in FSP.
The Solo Championships take place Sept. 25-28. In addition to the above, A.I. members who will be competiting include “Little” Mike and Carrie Snyder in E-Stock and ESL, and Pat Griffith in ESP.
Hired guns Greg Olsen and Pat Griffith, both Autocrossers, Inc., members, stole the show at the Mid-Atlantic Subaru Challenge Sept. 22 at Ripken Stadium. Greg drove Evanthe Salisbury’s A-Stock 2005 Subaru WRX STi and won the class, had the top PAX time and FTD to boot during regular competition. Greg ripped off a 48.1 on his final run to get to the top of the time sheets. He also had top PAX at last year’s event.
Pat drove Mike Sticarsky’s lightly prepped Street Modified 2004 Subaru WRX STi and won the class with a 48.4 (see class results.
After regular competition, the top 16 drivers squared off in the “Superstar Challenge.” With top PAX, Greg was the top qualifier and Pat was 6th. However, the Salisbury’s car broke a control arm on Greg’s final competition run, and he hopped into a Street Modified Impreza for the Challenge round.
Each of the 16 drivers in the Challenge got two more runs on the course, and their PAX times were added together for those two runs. Pat pulled a couple runs out of you know where — 47.7 followed by a 47.5 — which were good enough to give him the overall Challenge win (see final results). Greg put on a good showing in the former 2.2l Impreza with a WRX swap and ended up 4th in the Challenge.
Greg and Pat won remote-control Subaru Rally cars (not actual size) for their class wins.

Autocrossers, Inc was established in 1971 and became SCCA sanctioned in the early 1980's. We specialize in all aspects of autocrossing, and we encourage owners of all marques of cars, who want to safely learn how to drive their car at it's limit, to join. We are proud to have had, and still count among our members, National Championship winners and Pro Solo Championship winners.
